(and I just need to put this out there before someone says what the ... by 5 ingredients I mean the actual BURGER not the other things that you may add to it 😉 )
Anyways... I have taken my Sweet Potato burger and simplified how we make vegan burgers! Don’t get me wrong those sweet potato ones are delicious but not nearly as easy and these black bean ones!
After you make these one time, you will literally have the recipe memorized and it’ll become a regular dinner in you life!
Ok so the reason I called these a meal prep burger is because they freeze and re-heat SO well, of course these don’t have to be meal prep burgers they can be made and eaten fresh (I think that goes without saying lol) but I just like to tell you when something is particularly great for meal prepping and freezing because let’s be real, it makes life easier to stay on track and not reach for processed junk! 😉
Let’s talk real quick about how easy these burgers come together. Basically everything gets put in the food processor individually and added into a bowl, mixed up and formed into burger patty’s! … These burgers get cooked in a skillet on the stove top until golden brown and slightly crispy! It’s really that easy! Quick note to mention, (also mentioned in the recipe instructions) you want to process the oats first before the other ingredients otherwise if you get the processor all wet from the other ingredients the oats will just end up sticking to the food processor and won’t turn into a nice flour form!

These 5 Ingredient Spicy Black Bean Jalepeno Burgers are quick and easy to make paired with a tahini lime sauce , healthy, VEGAN and GF!

Ingredients
- FOR THE BURGERS:
- 1 15oz. can of black beans (I used organic no salt added beans)
- 1 jalapeño
- ¼ cup chopped onion (I used purple)
- ½ cup oats
- ¾ cup cooked quinoa
- Pinch salt + pepper optional
- EXTRAS/OPTIONAL:
- Tahini Lime Dressing:
- 2 TBSP natural runny Tahini
- 4 TBSP water
- 1 TBSP lime juice
- SERVE WITH:
- buns
- Avocado
- Lettuce
- Pickles
- anything else!
Instructions
- Make quinoa and let cool
- Put oats in food processor and pulse until textured flour is formed, add to large bowl for mixing.
- Drain + rinse black beans, pulse in food processor until broken up and mashed looking, add to bowl.
- Roughly chop jalepeno and onion, place in food processor and pulse until tiny minced looking, add to bowl. (*** SEE NOTES)
- Add quinoa to bowl.
- Using spoon or hands mix the ingredients up really well and form large burger patty’s.
- Using a non-stick pan or sprayed pan, heat it to medium heat and place the burgers in the skillet. let cook until golden brown and crispy (5-10 minutes) and then carefully flip and cook other side!
- Serve with suggestions listed.
- Makes 4 large burgers!
- pre- cook and store in the freezer up to 3 months, re-heat in microwave.
Notes
FOR MORE SPICE!!! - after processing the jalapeno and onion place in the skillet and sauteee/caramelize for about 5 minutes before adding it to the bowl to mix up, this will bring out more flavor and heat!
