These Chili Lime Baked Sweet Potato Wedges are SUPER easy to make and the avocado lime dip is the perfect pairing for these wedges! Vegan and gluten free.
What is more comforting than a big bowl of oil free baked sweet potato wedges with an avocado lime dipping sauce for them?! I hope you said nothing because I think you will love how easy and effortless this simple meal or snack is!
Yeah I said meal or snack because this would be a great snack food if you have people over or it would also make a great meal too because basically it’s 2 sweet potatoes chopped up with some seasoning and a tasty avocado lime dip that gives you some really healthy fats! Also fun fact: I read HERE that pairing sweet potatoes with a healthy fat source can significantly increase the beta-carotene benefits from the sweet potatoes! So this is a totally WIN!
So basically you can bake your sweet potatoes without the oil but including a healthy fat like avocado with them will increase your health benefits! 😉
Let’s talk about the seasoning for a second… the amount of spices I have listed is flexible, this is what I used and it tasted great to me but if you want to go a little heavier on the spices please feel free! It’s just potatoes wedges so adjust to your liking! I would say what I have listed is in the mild category, not too much chili but just enough to taste it!
What I love about baked sweet potato wedges is that they get a nice chewy texture on the outside and a soft texture on the inside and I love them! But if you are partial to regular potatoes than feel free to interchange between the two! Maybe even do one of each! 😉
These Sweet Potato Wedges are:
Comforting.
Mildly chili flavored.
Paired with an avocado lime dip!
Great for dinner, snacking or a side dish to a meal.
EASY!
Healthy!
Filling.

These Chili Lime Baked Sweet Potato Wedges are SUPER easy to make and the avocado lime dip is the perfect pairing for these wedges! Vegan and gluten free.
- Prep Time: 10 mins
- Cook Time: 45 mins
- Total Time: 55 mins
- Yield: 1-2
- Category: App/Snack/Meal
Ingredients
- - 2 large sweet potatoes (sliced into wedges)
- SPICE MIXTURE: (more or less to taste/preference)
- - 2 teaspoon chili powder
- - 1 teaspoon onion powder
- - ½ teaspoon of black pepper
- DIPPING SAUCE:
- - 1 ripe avocado
- - Juice of 1 small lime (about 1-2 TBSP)
- - ½ teaspoon chili powder
- Extra lime wedges for squeezing over wedges once cooked optional
Instructions
- Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees F and line a baking sheet with tin foil shiny side down or parchment paper would probably be fine too.
- Slice the sweet potatoes into wedges.
- Mix the spice mixture in a small bowl.
- Place the wedges on the baking sheet and sprinkle the spice mixture over them, use your hands to gently toss the wedges around until they are coated in the spice mixture on both sides.
- Place with the skin side touching the baking sheet and place them in the oven for 45 minutes.
- About 5 minutes before they are done baking prepare the dip. If the avocado is ripe enough you should be able to just add the avocado, lime juice and chili powder to a small bowl and use a fork to mash it together, if you want it a more creamy texture, then add the avocado, lime juice and chili powder to a mini food processor and blend until creamy and smooth.
- Remove the wedges from the oven, let them cool and then enjoy!
Notes
update: I guess sweet potatoes are actually white and yams are the orange ones, I used the orange ones in this recipe so whatever you call them is fine but I used the orange ones! 😉
totally addicting!
