Caramel and chocolate… need I say more???
I made this cake for Nick’s birthday… I’m telling ya ladies orrr guys… this is that way to your significant other’s heart… this cake is seriously so decadent it just melts in your mouth.
Let me just say that when Nick took his first bite… I think his words were something like “mmm omg lol now this is a way to a mans heart” he had heaven in his mouth!
It is just so moist and caramelly and chocolaty your taste buds will want to eat the whole cake! …
And it’s really pretty easy to make… yeah it’s a little time consuming having to wait between layers of sweet yumminess and caremelly goodness but FOR REAL! It’s SO worth it… this cake is so addicting you’r going to want to find excuses to make it… think: birthdays, holidays, celebrations…. Or hello just cravings!
and seriously the plate looks like this when it's gone! 🙂

Chocolate Caramel Better Than... Cake
- Yield: 24 1x
- Cuisine: Cake
Ingredients
- 1. Phillsbury moist supreme devil’s food cake
- 2. Can of sweetened condensed milk
- 3. 1 jar of Mrs. Richardsons butterscotch caramel
- 4. 1 container of cool whip
- 5. 1 bag of Heath milk chocolate toffee bites
- 6. 3 Eggs for cake mix
- 7. Water for cake mix
- 8. Oil for cake mix
Instructions
- Make the cake according to directions on the box
- Let the cake cool for at least 30 minutes
- Use a fork and poke hole in the cake
- Pour the whole can of sweetened condensed milk over the top of the cake (if necessary use a knife for 1-2 minutes and gently spread the sweetened condensed milk around so it doesn’t all fall down on the edges of the cake) let site for at least 30 minutes or untill most of it has absorbed into the cake
- Take the cover off the caramel and microwave for 30 seconds until softened, pour ¾ of the jar over the cake and repeat the 1-2 minutes of spreading evenly so it doesn’t all fall down the side of the cake. Let sit for at least 1 hr. in room temperature
- … then put in fridge- I let mine sit in the fridge overnight OR continue to step 7-
- Spread the cool whip evenly on top the cake
- Add the toffee crunch on top of the cake
- Store in the fridge
Notes
I usually let my cake sit in the fridge overnight to let the sweetened condensed milk and the caramel fully absorb into the cake… it is not necessary to leave in fridge overnight you could just leave it out until it look like most of it has absorbed into the cake and then serve but I can tell you… it’s soooo much yummier the next day if you let it sit overnight… this cake gets better with time! Trust me 🙂 and for the Caramel... I really suggest trying to find the Mrs. Richardson's brand, it makes a huge difference in taste... I have tried other kinds but nothing compares! oh and the left-over caramel… think in some warm coffee the next morning or extra drizzle over your cake… or on some yummy cookies!
