Chocolate Cinnamon Bread with GLAZE ! This is vegan and gluten free and oh so delightful! It's perfect for the holidays and great to bring to parties as a dessert!
I just LOVE dessert style loafs this time of year... Loaf? Is that even the right thing to call this? I'm not very great on using the right terms when baking or cooking 😉 I'm no chef... Just a girl who lovesss vegan yummies! 😉
Anyways like I was saying I love these this time of year, there's just something about the smell of cinnamon and the warm slice of chocolaty good-ness drizzled with sugary icing, it just says comfort to me!
How about you? What's one of your favorite holiday season desserts or foods???
A few things about this Chocolate Cinnamon Bread with Icing:
The icing is a MUST, normally I would say it's optional but seriouslyyy not on this bread, the icing with the chocolate and cinnamon is what makes it SO good!
It smells like Christmas/the Holiday season
It's CHOCOLATE!
It's got sugary icing!
Best when served warm! (Re-heat in the microwave)
Crumbly inside (so you can scrap the crumbs off the plate of course! mixed with the icing that spilled over!) 😉

Chocolate Cinnamon Bread with Icing
Chocolate Cinnamon Bread with Icing
- Prep Time: 10 mins
- Cook Time: 40 mins
- Total Time: 50 mins
- Yield: 7 1x
Ingredients
- 1 â…“ cup All purpose GF flour (I used Bob's Red Mill brand with red label NOT the baking AP flour)
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- Pinch of sea salt
- ¼ cup cocoa powder ( I used 100% dark chocolate)
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- ½ cup packed brown sugar (could probably sub coconut sugar if you can't use regular brown sugar)
- ½ cup pumpkin purée (plain! Not pie filling)
- 3.9 oz. of plain unsweetened applesauce (I used the ones in little containers that come with 3.9 oz in them)
- 2 tbsp vegan butter (I used Earth Balance in the red tub)
- â…” cup vegan chocolate chips (I use Enjoy Life brand)
- Icing:
- 1 ½ cup confectioners sugar
- 2 tbsp almond milk (I used u sweetened vanilla SILK brand)
Instructions
- Pre-heat the oven at 350 and spray a loaf pan (about 3-4 in by 12 long, most loaf pan sizes will work it will just affect how thick your bread is) with non stick cooking spray
- In a large mixing bowl add all your dry ingredients ( flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cocoa powder, cinnamon)
- Melt your butter in the microwave, then add all went ingredients to the big bowl (butter, brown sugar, Apple sauce, pumpkin) and mix well
- Stir in chocolate chips and pour into prepared loaf pan and baking for 40-45 minutes or until a tooth pick comes out clean
- Prepare the icing once you remove the loaf from the oven, mix you confectioners sugar and almond milk and stir until smooth
- Either pour icing over the top while it's still in the pan OR remove from the loaf pan once cooled and drizzle over the top!
- Enjoy!
- Makes about 7-10 slices depending how thick you cut them!
- Serve each slice warmed up! Drizzle more icing after warming if necessary!
Notes
the icing on this bread is totally not optional! It's made with GF flour which tends to be a bit crumblier and the icing melts together with it in your mouth! without the icing it's a bit to crumbly for my taste!
SO DON'T SKIP THE ICING!!! 😉
