Today I wanted to share with you my FAVORITE skincare products that are also VEGAN. These are the only skincare products that I use, and most of them I have been using for years.
About me: I have very sensitive skin, my cheeks are prone to redness if I use anything rough or spend too much time in cold weather, everything I use is suitable for sensitive skin.
let’s talk about the facial wash. The brand is Mama Mio I have been using this face wash for over 5 years, they have modified the formula once during that time but I still use it and love it. It’s very gentle and it gets rid of all the dirt and oil without leaving my skin feeling stripped and dry. I leave it in the shower and I wash my face with it every single night.
Next I want to talk about the Josie Maran Argan Oil LIGHT. When she came out with the light version I started wearing it every day! This is my daily moisturizer I put it on every night after I shower and if I need some in the morning I will apply a little more otherwise once a day keeps my skin hydrated. A little bit goes a long way, I use 3-6 drops on my face/neck (depending on how dry my skin is, I use the lesser amount in the summer). If my skin feels hurt from the windy cold winter weather or burned from the summer sun it just makes the pain go away. This LIGHT version is non-oily (as long as you don’t use too much) and I use it like a regular moisturizer I don’t need to pull my hair back or anything. I always apply to my face without make-up on, make-up goes over it great but I don’t put this on top of the make-up. (I only use face powder, no foundation)
Josie Maran’s original Argan Oil. This stuff is also great and very similar to the LIGHT version except it’s much heavier, I only use this when I want a deeply moisturizing face oil. When I apply this I always pull my hair back otherwise it does make the front of my hair oily. But with that being said, I still love it and keep it on hand.
Josie Maran MILK. GENIUS that’s all I have to say about this. This is my second favorite after the Argan LIGHT stuff. It’s super light and great for summer. Very moisturizing and I would say it applies smoother than the two oils listed above, its creamier I guess you could say. LOVE!
Organic Essence Shea Butter! BEST. STUFF. EVER. I use this on everything and anything. This is my favorite brand its affordable and lasts a long time. I use this on my lips, face, wounds/cuts (amazing for that, heals so must faster) burns, dry chapped skin, dry patches of skin literally anything and it works great! When my dad got his hand caught in a printing press he had to have surgery and stitches, I convinced him to try it on the wounds instead of commercial products and he did, he actually liked it and had me put it on his hand every night! (surprising for my dad because he is usually a big NO to any of my weird organic stuff). I apply this under bandages on cuts/wounds as well.
The trick with this stuff though, you need to scoop a LITTLE TINY BIT out and put it in the palm of your hand and use your 2 fingers to rub it in and make it melt, then you can apply anywhere once it gets nice and creamy.
For a body butter, you can whip it with a beater (like a cake mixer) and it will beat into a creamy smooth whip butter instead of being hard, some people add a couple drops of oil too but I prefer plain. This works best in larger amounts though, if trying to whip it for a lip balm/treatment just use something small like a toothpick and work at it until it gets smooth, this is more difficult but it is worth it.
My most recent find HONEST face+body lotion! LOVE this stuff, not only is it vegan and cruelty free but it has shea butter in it and it’s not greasy or oily or gross like a lot of other body lotions I have tried. You do need to rub it in a bit to get it all absorbed and I think that’s because of the shea butter in it but it is seriously my favorite! I cannot say enough great things about this stuff plus its affordable! I can’t believe such a quality product is so affordable. I use this on my whole body every night after I get out of the shower and this bottle lasted me about 1 ½ - 2 months! This is a must try!
Josie Maran Liquid Gold Bronzer. Best bronzer I have ever tried and its cruelty free! I couldn’t believe it. It’s not cheap but this bottle lasted me almost all summer using it on my whole body about 2-3 times per week (the color lasts a few days). The color is perfect and it’s not streaky if you apply according to the directions… but do not get it wet until it is fully dry otherwise you may get water marks and that includes sweat. Other than that I will be buying more of it this summer, this stuff sells out FAST so I’m getting more than 1 bottle this year!

One last thing!
For a super gentle face scrub (I’ll try and do a post about this in the near future) but I just use Bob’s Red Mill white rice flour and mix with a little bit of water until it forms a gloppy texture and scrub my face, neck, and the rest of my bod with it, it’s really gentle and cleans really well. Sometimes depending on how my cheeks look I will skip them or I will just rub really gently. Affordable and effective.
