A delicious twist between a flat bread, a pita and a soft tortilla chip! Chili flavored with an Avocado lime dip makes these Soft Chili Tortilla Chips with Avocado Lime Dip a truly addicting snack! Vegan and Gluten Free!
This is what you call a VERY HAPPY accident my friends! π
This was supposed to be a soft tortilla wrap⦠it turned out nothing like a soft burrito wrap! BUT the happy part is that it tasted WAY too good to not share with you! So I was trying to figure out what the heck I will say to describe this to you ⦠and this is what I came up with:
It pulls apart like flat bread, itβs kind of like a pita crossed with a soft tortilla but they scoop like chips! π HAPPY DANCING right now!
I mean REALLY itβs addicting, I stood in the kitchen taking bite after bite thinking to myself STOP eating it woman you need to picture this! Figure out what to call it later!
While taking the pictures, Β I scooped some in the avocado lime dip took a picture and ate it, and repeated that again and again until I got the picture I wanted HA! π maybe just one more scoop and picture and one more and one more I kept telling myself!
These are the how-to pictures, itβs easier than it looks I have more notes about it in the recipe also!
So on a slightly different note, do any of you know about a taco place called Zantigoβs ? well before going vegetarian YEARSSSS ago I used to LOVE that place I have the taste permanently in my tastes buds FOREVER! Well if you have ever been there you know what I am talking about!
What does that have to do with this recipe you might be wonderingβ¦
These Soft Chili Tortilla Chips seriously taste just like their cheesy wraps! I have no idea how Chili flavor ended up tasting like a cheesy burrito but Iβm not asking questions itβs definitely going to be made a million more times in this house!
And nope I also am NOT going crazy it has a cheesy meets mildly spicy meets taco sauce flavor! so the avocado lime dip is just perfect with it, fresh and creamy!
Totally trying this with salsa next time! π
I really hope you try it and LOVE it as much as me! Take a pic and show me on social media if you do!

PrintSoft Chili Tortilla Chips with Avocado Lime Dip
A delicious twist between a flat bread, a pita and a soft tortilla chip! Chili flavored with an Avocado lime dip makes these Soft Chili Tortilla Chips with Avocado Lime Dip a truly addicting snack! Vegan and Gluten Free!
- Prep Time: 10 mins
- Cook Time: 20 mins
- Total Time: 30 mins
Ingredients
- - 1 Β½ cups brown rice flour (plus more for dusting and rolling)
- - ΒΌ cup tapioca flour
- - 2 teaspoon chili powder
- - 1 tablespoon melted vegan butter (I use Earth Balance in the red tub)
- - β cups water
- - Avocado Lime DIP:
- - 1 whole avocado
- - Juice from Β½ a lime
- - Black cracked pepper
- - Β½ teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl add all the dry ingredients and stir.
- Melt the butter and add butter and water to dry mixture at the same time, mix well! Use hands if necessary to kneed it.
- Form 4-5 balls and place in the freezer for 10 minutes while you prepare the rest of the things you need.
- Lay down plastic wrap on a counter, lightly dust it with some rice flour, place a cold dough ball in the center, sprinkle a little more flour on top the ball and place another piece for plastic wrap over the ball, use a rolling pin to roll the dough out being careful to not roll too thin at the edges because it will cause them to break off. You want it about β inch thick maybe a little more.
- Once flat, remove the top plastic piece and pick up the bottom one, be really quick with this next step (also see notes) because you do not want the plastic to melt! Lay it over the skillet and pull back the plastic leaving just the dough in the skillet, cook on medium to high heat for about 3 minutes each side depending on thickness this may vary a little more or less.
- Carefully use a spatula to flip.
- Repeat with the other ones until all the dough is gone.
- Once they are all done prepare you dip by adding all the ingredients into a small bowl and smashing until looks like a dip!
Notes
NOTES: the first tortilla will be the easiest because you can WAIT to turn the heat on until it is already in the pan, thatβs the best way to do it so you can get a practice in first before you continue.
Use new sheets of plastic wrap as needed.
This would also be delicious with your favorite store bough salsa as well!
