- Frozen Bananas: Be sure to chop them before freezing them to make it easier to blend.
- Frozen Strawberries: Make sure they are frozen.
- Plant Milk: I like oat or almond milk the best but any plant milk you like best will do, make sure its unsweetened plain.
- Cocoa Powder: I used unsweetened cocoa powder but you could also use raw cacao if you prefer.
- Hemp Seeds: I like to add this for extra nutrition.

- Add nut butter: You can add any nut or seed butter you like to make this a more filling smoothie, I personally love cashew butter because it's a very mild flavor that goes really well with the chocolate strawberry flavor.
- Add greens: I love adding a stem of kale to this smoothie, it's a great way to get more greens and you can't really even taste it in this Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie.
- More protein: You can easily add a scoop of your favorite plant-based protein powder to this chocolate banana strawberry smoothie giving you a chocolate protein smoothie.
- Caffeine-Free: If you’d like this chocolate strawberry and banana smoothie caffeine free you can swap the cocoa powder for carbo powder (it will change the taste a little bit).
- Toppings: Yes, you can definitely add toppings to this strawberry chocolate banana smoothie, possibly sliced strawberries or bananas, cacao nibs, vegan chocolate chips or a drizzle of nut butter, coconut whip cream, basically any other topping you’d like.
How to make this Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie
Step 1: Add the banana, strawberries, plant milk, cocoa powder, hemp seeds (optional kale and cashew butter if you choose too) to a high seed blender.
Step 2: Blend until smooth. Enjoy right away.
Expert Tips
- Frozen bananas and strawberries: Be sure to chop bananas and freeze them (at least 12 hours), the frozen bananas and strawberries are easier to blend and also this helps to make the smoothie nice and cold. If it is not cold enough for your liking, you can add 1-2 ice cubes.
- Try using homemade milk: This chocolate banana and strawberry smoothie can be made with one of our homemade non-dairy milk recipes such as our oat milk, cashew milk, coconut milk, or almond milk.
- Serve immediately: Smoothies do not keep well and are best enjoyed right away. Even when chilled in the refrigerator, their texture will begin to deteriorate, so I don’t recommend storing them.

There are recipes that do call for ice to be added. If once you make a smoothie it’s not cold enough you might also add ice.

- 2 cups plant milk (unsweetened and plain - oat, almond, cashew, soy, hemp or coconut all work - use your favorite)
