Making a smoothie is pretty straight forward, add everything to the blender and blend until creamy and smooth! So let’s talk about the benefits of the ingredients in this Chocolate Hemp Smoothie so you can realize why this smoothie is so special! 😉
Almond milk- more calcium than cows milk and unlike cows milk (diary) it doesn’t leach the calcium from your bones… just google it and you will know what I mean but almond milk (or another non-dairy milk) is supreme for your health!
Banana- potassium, vitamins, minerals, fiber, filling and gives the smoothie a nice creamy consistency.
Cocoa/cacao/carob- ok, cocoa does have some health benefits, as does cacao (less processed version of cocoa) but it does also contain some caffein so for those of you who are sensitive to caffein you can sub carob for the chocolate in here… I’ll be honest carob does require an acquired taste it’s sweet but bitter at the same time but if you want to kick the caffein you will adjust to the taste trust me and after a while it’s really not that bad!
Medjool date: nature candy! It provides the sweetness for the cocoa in this smoothie, cocoa can be quick bitter if left unsweetened so the medjool date does wonders (you can use two if you need more sweetness) medjool dates are a rich source of vitamin B6 which is good for brain performance, they are also a great source of iron (like I mention in my eBook) as well as calcium… just to name a few things!
Hemp hearts! Hemp hearts are a great source of protein, fiber, iron, and contain all of the essential amino acids!
That’s pretty much all I have to say about this superfood smoothie! of course you can research a million more health benefits of the ingredients in here but I just wanted to highlight a few of them!

Ingredients
- 1 cup Vanilla Unsweetened Almond Milk (I use SILK brand)
- 1 cup water
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1-2 tablespoon cocoa/cacao/carob
- 1 pitted soft medjool date
- 1 TBSP Hemp hearts (I like Bob's Red Mill)
- extra water to thin and a handful of ice if desired
Instructions
- place everything into a blend and blend until creamy and smooth!
- Serves 1
Notes
if you want to make this a super filling meal replacement you can pre-soak some chia seeds or flax seeds and add that to this smoothie as well.
