Why you will love this recipe
- Sweet and Indulgent: I love it when I can make a healthy dessert that tastes so yummy you would think you could only eat one, when in fact you could eat a couple and not feel bad about it!
- Gooey and Fudgy: They taste like a vegan truffle but they are packed with good for you stuff from the almond butter and medjool dates.
- Quick and Easy: Literally pop everything into a food processor and pulse until it forms a dough to be rolled into balls. If you want to get fancy you can dip or drizzle the chocolate and add the sprinkles but it's not 100% necessary they are delicious without the extras.
- Vegan and Gluten Free: Yep, like all my recipes around here they are vegan and they happen to be gluten free as well but you would never be able to tell.
- Freezer Friendly: I love to make extras to keep in the freezer, simply let thaw in the fridge or on the counter and you have a delicious vegan chocolate fudge ball.
I really know you are going to love these, the texture is so much like fudge, the sweetness is so on point! Not loaded with processed sugar, but sweet enough you would think there’s sugar added when in fact (besides the chocolate drizzle which you could sub by just rolling it in cocoa powder or just the sprinkles) the sweetness is coming from a perfect combination of medjool dates and unsweetened cocoa powder when combined makes a delicious tasting chocolate fudge flavor! I know you are going to love them and I can’t wait to hear what you think!!!

Ingredients
Here's a look at the simple ingredients you need to make these Vegan Chocolate Fudge Balls. Be sure to check the recipe at the end of the page for the full list with quantities.
- Medjool Dates: If they are not soft you may need to soak them in warm water for 15 minutes then drain the water and proceed as normal with the recipe.
- Almond Butter: I used almond butter on these vegan chocolate fudge balls but really you could use any nut or seed butter you like best.
- Cocoa Powder: Make sure it's plain unsweetened cocoa powder, not hot cocoa mix or any with added sugars.
- Vegan Chocolate Chips:This step is also optional but again gives it that extra special feel and look. I like Enjoy Life brand.
- Peppermint Extract: This is optional but if you are making these around the holiday time it really gives it that extra special feel and taste.
Variations
- Switch the Nut Butter: You could use any nut or seed butter you like, cashew butter, peanut butter or sunflower seed butter. They will all affect the taste but if it's a butter you like then you'll love it.
- White Chocolate: You could easily dip or drizzle these in vegan white chocolate instead.
- Sprinkles: Change up the sprinkles to some party sprinkles and use vanilla instead of peppermint extract and you have super fun party truffles.
How to make Vegan Chocolate Fudge Balls
- Step 1: In a food processor add the pitted dates, almond butter and cocoa powder and blend until it forms 1 big clump of dough.
- Step 2: Remove blades from the food processor and form balls with the dough, place on a lined baking sheet and place in freezer for 15 minutes to set.
- Step 3: Melt chocolate and dip or drizzle the balls with chocolate, add sprinkles, place back in freezer 15 minutes to set and enjoy!
Expert Tips
- Store in the freezer: These are great to have healthy "treats" for when the craving hits, I like to keep these in the freezer and pull them out about 15 minutes before enjoying them to let them thaw on the counter.
